A trans daydream

Someone asks me about Dave Chappelle in an interview. I say,

“You know, like everyone my age—especially if you grew up a boy—I thought Dave Chapelle was hilarious. But at this point it’s like, okay, we get it, you think trans-ness is fake and weird and gross. Move on. You’re not saying anything new and at this point it’s just mean.”

Next thing you know, Dave wants to talk to me on TV, and I’m so self-effacing and disarming like oh, Dave, you really keep me on my toes…
